We offer custom dive charters for small groups on a very safe and seaworthy boat, taking you to the dive site of your choice in a large and spacious boat.

The Dive Boat:

Our dive boat, Lion's Paw,  is a 42 foot Duffy, built in Brooklin, Maine, specifically for use as a charter boat.  Atlantic Boat Company builds most Duffy boats as either commercial offshore lobster/fishing boats or very high end yachts and they are known for their traditional lines, sea keeping abilities and well crafted hulls.

Lion's Paw has a very nice layout and lots of deck space for her length as well as a very large salon with plenty of seating to allow all the divers to get out of the weather.  Down below you will find a large head and shower, a full galley and settee.  There is also a V berth forward for tired divers to sleep on the way out to the dive site.  You do not have to sit in front of your wet dive gear all day long.

Here is a FB post by Mike Barnette of the LP at sea.

Lion's Paw is powered by a pair of Caterpillar diesels that move her along at 18 knots when fully loaded which means the average time to the first dive site is about 90 minutes.  The deep forefoot and full underbody of the hull give her a great ride even in a head sea and you don't feel beat by the end of the day, even if the seas are a bit on the sporty side.  The boat also has a 9KW generator to provide AC power for the microwave and anything else we need to power.

The dive deck of the Lions Paw is big enough for lots of gear.

The dive deck has lots of space for divers and the gear.  Tank racks, a dressing bench and walk-thru transom make diving easy.

Lion's Paw has been properly outfitted for diving with tank racks and benches, a dive platform, boarding ladder and the transom design allows you to walk right out onto the dive platform after donning your gear on the dressing bench.

We have all the modern electronic navigation tools to include multiple networked Garmin GPS units with XM weather information satellite downlink, Radar, Sonar and multiple communication radios that have DSC and AIS features.  We also carry more than just the minimum amount of safety gear to include EPIRB, Life Float, Emergency Oxygen and a AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) unit.

The main salon has plenty of seating for all the divers, with lots of storage space below the seats.

Spearguns are stored in proper ranks out on the dive deck to keep them safe and secure.

Cameras have a safe place too and we have plenty of rinse water on board and even sea water wash down if you and your gear come back from the wreck a bit dirty.

The settee and dining/camera table down below.  Down below is a large settee and table for eating your lunch or prepping your dive camera.  Directly across from this is a very large marine head that provides plenty of space and privacy for clothing changes; a shower too.

Forward, there is a V berth that allows tired divers to nap in total comfort on the way out or back from a great day of diving...

Where is the boat located?

The Lion' Paw is in Hatteras Village, on the Outer Banks of NC.  We are in "Harbor View Marina", a very small private marina on Saxon Cut Drive located directly behind the Burris Red&White grocery store.  To find us turn off Rt 12 at Kohler Drive (between the Red&White and the Bank and take an immediate left onto Saxon Cut Drive going behind the store.  Look for the dive signs and turn into the driveway and look for the boat in the middle slip on this property.

The coordinates for your GPS are:  N35.13.260W075.41.549
